On the sal of Joan de Warenne, Countess of Surrey, dated 1306, there apperas the arms of England, she was the granddaughter of Edward I. The Surrey lion as used ont he Seal of Surrey County Council from 1889 is one of the English lions from Joan de Warrenn's seal, differenced by tincture
