On a lozenge gules, a lion rampant queue fourche argent. Inscribed beneath on a scroll LEICESTERSHIRE all argent.

The lion derived from the lion of Simon De Montford who inherited the EArldom of Leicester from Fitzoarnel. When later it was absorbed with the Crown, Queen Elizabeth I granted the Earldom to Robert Dudley who also bore his arems a lion, queue fourche of a different colour.
